His strength is his ability to adapt to the individual interests and goals of each student. He is experienced in preparing students for RCM exams, concerts, and festivals in a variety of musical genres. "Erik taught my son piano for 6 years in Burnaby. He is a wonderful teacher, with lots of patience. He makes the lessons fun while still managing to cover a lot of material. We were so sorry to see Erik move, but know that some other lucky students will benefit greatly from his teachings."

"I was a student of Erik's at Staccato Studios in Burnaby, BC and found him to be a dedicated teacher with unending patience for his students. Over the years, I learned many advanced piano techniques and with Erik's kind encouragement and music knowledge, expanded my joy for the piano. I miss our weekly lesson but wish him and his lovely family well in their Camrose home."

He is a patient, kind, and encouraging teacher. He helped to expand my musical horizons, and always found new and exciting pieces for me to play. "Erik is the most patient and encouraging teacher I ever have had the pleasure to be taught by. It does not matter the student or their interests in playing an instrument, whether they want to do RCM exams or just play because they enjoy it; he is the perfect teacher for everyone. With his help and guidance I improved greatly over the three years that he taught me, and was sad to hear he had to move away. I'd greatly recommend Erik to anyone, anytime!"

"Erik Olson taught my daughter piano for 8 years. He instilled a love for learning music. He allowed my daughter to have the freedom to choose the music that interested her and then was able to teach the musical concepts through the pieces that inspired her. He motivated her to try musical festivals and to perform at year end shows. He always had time to talk to the parents to explain the lesson and he always responded to email queries. If you were to ask my daughter for her best music teacher ever it would be Erik!"

"As an older adult returning to the piano after many years I was very nervous and self-conscious. With Erik as my teacher I immediately relaxed and renewed my enthusiasm for the instrument. As a child and adolescent I did not really understand how the piano worked. I learned to play notes and understand enough theory to take Conservatory exams but under Erik’s tutelage I began to get a better feel for how to move about the piano and use keys and chords to advantage. It was wonderful to experiment with different kinds of music and to able to play duets with Erik which of course brought many challenges for me but also wonderful pleasure and laughter. Erik is a patient, understanding teacher who can assess the needs of his students and gear his lessons accordingly. After experiencing many teachers in my lifetime, I can honestly say: 'Best teacher ever!'"

"Erik Olson was my son's piano teacher for three years. It was during his time with Erik that my son, Ian, really developed a love of music and, in particular, performing. Ian was not fond of the conservatory-type music that most music schools typically teach. And, of course, this made practicing a chore. Erik knew innately that Ian loves music so found ways to encourage this by adding pop music pieces to his repertoire. This made things more interesting for Ian and kept him engaged. Erik even created backing tracks for Ian's pop pieces on his own time giving the music a very professional sound. As well, Erik nurtured Ian's love of performing by arranging for him to play with the music school band during the year end performances. Ian has commented many times how those performances were so much fun and a highlight of each year. We were very sad when Erik moved back to Alberta. We strongly recommend Erik to anyone who wants to learn music!"
